| To all personnel,
On July 4, 2011 elements of Baker Company, 104 IR, 26YD HRG took part in the annual "4th of July Parade" in Norwood MA. The following AAR is a summary of the day's event. It was a great day for a parade. The temperature was hot, the skies were filled with sunshine and clouds and the people of Norwood, and surrounding towns, were eager to see a parade. YD troops and vehicles mustered at the rally point approximately 1600 hours. In attendance were seventeen troops and three vehicles. There were a multitude of tanks, armored and support vehicles which accompanied Baker company in the parade. The parade stepped off at approximately 1740 hours. The crowds were anxiously awaiting the WWII contingency. There were quite a few veterans in the crowd. All were acknowledged with waves and smiles, thumbs up and hand shakes. The YD infantry was very interactive with the crowds along the parade route. As usual, the Unit was well received. Especially SSgt. Volk's patriotic music playing from the back of his jeep. This year's pace of the parade was slower then last year's pace. There was an unfortunate accident that happened to one of the German troops during the public battle when a pack gun misfired and caused an injury to his leg. A full recovery is expected. The parade took approximately seventy five minutes to complete. The parade ended for the 26YD HRG at approximately 1845 hours. Some YD troops stayed after the parade for pizza and dessert...It was a great day for a parade! Special thanks to: SSgt. Brissette - Provided his jeep and motorcycle for the parade. SSgt. Volk - Provided his jeep for the parade. WAC Kuebler - Provided homemade dessert for B Company. Thanks to all Baker Company personnel in attendance for your participation and enthusiasm! Respectfully submitted, 1st Lt. J. DiPersio Executive Officer Baker Company 104th IR 26YD HRG Platoon Leader Headquarters |
